When I sit down to write a book, I do not say to myself,
' I am going to produce a work of art.'
I write it because there is some lie that I want to expose,
some fact to which I want to draw attention
and my initial concern is to get a hearing.

Being a writer, I write about non-fiction things of the real world in the hopes of helping someone to understand certain subjects, but I prefer to write stories where the characters live in a make-believe world that I create for them. In a make-believe world, the sky is the limit.
“You know that feeling, when you are reading a book, and you know that it is going to be a tragedy; you can feel the cold and darkness coming, see the net drawing tight around the characters who live and breathe on the pages. But you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.”
